On November 5, the City of Stanton will hold a general election for three seats on the Stanton City Commission.
In November of 2018, Michigan voters approved Proposal 3, which changed several election laws: Absentee voting, Straight party voting, and Voter registration.
Absentee voting: All registered voters are now eligible to receive an absentee ballot without a reason. To receive an absentee ballot, you need to complete an application before the election. If you want to be placed on a permanent absentee voter list to receive an application before each election, contact the City Clerk at (989) 831-4440.
Straight party voting: All registered voters can vote the partisan section of the ballot by selecting the party only.
Voter registration: Residents who are at least the age of 18 are automatically registered to vote when they make a transaction at the Secretary of State. Voters may choose to cancel their registration. Eligible voters may register by mail up to 15 days before an election or register in person at the Clerk’s Office within 14 days of the election of the upcoming election. Voters still need to prove residency in the city.
